April 28 marked the National Day of Mourning — a time to remember those impacted by workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities, and to reflect on the importance of safer workplaces.
Recent data shows ongoing challenges:
• 54% of workers experienced ergonomic risks, with the highest exposure in agriculture, trades & transport, and manufacturing
• Sprains and strains made up 36% of WSIB-reported injuries
• Tragically, 171 work-related fatalities were recorded in Ontario in 2025

Right now, the 2026 Canadian Census is live!
For over a century, Canadians have relied on the census to understand how our country is changing over time.
Every five years, Statistics Canada collects demographic, social, and economic information from every household in the country.
Age, language, income, socioeconomic trends, it all gets captured. That data powers planning across every level: employment services, schools, hospitals, transportation, and more.

Downtown Hamilton Revitalization |
|
|
Earlier this month, Hamilton City Council took a major step forward for Downtown Hamilton. The 10-Year Downtown Hamilton Revitalization Strategy has been approved at Council, signaling a landmark commitment to the future of our core.
The Downtown Hamilton BIA and International Village BIA have been advocating strongly for the downtown community since the release of the 2024 Downtown Safety Survey, which highlighted the experiences of members, residents, and visitors on the ground. A long-term, coordinated revitalization strategy was one of the key recommendations — and that vision has now become a reality. |
