Citizenship Preparedness Sessions

Citizenship Preparedness Session – March 10

 

Permanent Residents who are preparing to apply for Canadian citizenship are invited to attend a FREE Citizenship Preparedness Session hosted through the Library Settlement Partnership (LSP) Program at Hamilton Central Library.

 

This informative session will help participants better understand the citizenship application process, prepare for the citizenship test, and feel more confident about each step of the journey toward becoming a Canadian citizen.

 

During the session, attendees will learn about application requirements, eligibility, study strategies for the test, practice questions, and what to expect during the citizenship interview and ceremony. Participants will also receive information about available community supports.

Women's Journey

Women’s Journey: A Supportive Mental Health Group

The Women’s Journey program offers a supportive space for women who have experienced incarceration and are navigating their path forward.

 

Hosted by the Recovery College at CMHA Hamilton, this free group provides an opportunity to connect with others who share similar experiences while exploring topics such as stigma, housing, employment, legal challenges, and overall well-being.

 

Participants can share, learn, and support one another in a welcoming and understanding environment led by individuals who recognize the realities of rebuilding after incarceration.

Hospitality Careers

WorkLINK Program – Careers in Hospitality

The WorkLINK Program is a six-week training opportunity designed to help individuals prepare for entry-level careers in the hospitality industry.

 

Beginning March 9, 2026, this program provides practical training, workplace preparation, and industry knowledge to help participants build confidence and develop the skills needed to enter the workforce.

 

Throughout the program, participants will learn about the roles and responsibilities of common hospitality positions, including housekeeping, room attendants, waitstaff, kitchen staff, and cafΓ© helpers.

 

The program also focuses on strengthening communication skills, developing industry-specific vocabulary, and providing job readiness and workplace orientation.

Explore Careers in Landscaping & Horticulture – Information Session

 

Are you or someone you support interested in starting a career in the landscaping and horticulture industry? Join YWCA Hamilton for an upcoming virtual information session that introduces opportunities through Landscape Ontario’s GROW Training for New Workers program.

 

This session will provide an overview of career pathways in landscaping and horticulture, including training opportunities, hands-on learning, job supports, and the tools needed to begin a career in this growing sector. Participants will also learn about the types of roles available in the industry and the next steps to access training and employment supports.

VON Adult Day Program Open House

 

You’re invited to attend the VON Adult Day Program Open House and learn more about the programs available to support older adults and their caregivers in Hamilton.

 

Join the team on March 25, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at both Adult Day Program locations. This open house is a great opportunity to meet program staff, explore the facilities, and learn how these programs support social engagement, independence, and caregiver respite. Light refreshments will be provided.
