September 30 was National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
This day honours the children who never made it home from residential schools, as well as the Survivors, their families, and their communities. It serves as a time for remembrance, reflection, and public acknowledgement of the painful legacy and lasting impacts of the residential school system; a critical step in the journey toward reconciliation.

Business Confidence Holds Steady Amid Fragile Recovery
Canadian businesses are showing resilience despite mounting trade tensions, a cooling labour market, and weak consumer demand, according to the Canadian Chamber of Commerceās Q3
Business Insights Quarterly.
While business confidence stabilized after five straight declines, caution prevails following a sharp -1.6% economic contraction in Q2 ā the steepest since the pandemic.
U.S. tariff risks and labour market softening continue to weigh on sentiment, with small firms and micro-exporters leading the way in maintaining trade momentum. With the CUSMA review on the horizon, the stakes for Canadaās competitiveness are rising.

Child Care Use by Low-Income Families in Canada |

Child Care Use by Low-Income Families in Canada (2023)
A new Statistics Canada report highlights key differences in child care use between low-income and higher-income families.
In 2023, only 41% of children five and under in low-income families attended child care, compared with 60% in higher-income families.
Parents in low-income households were more likely to report challenges affording care, though less likely to say they couldnāt find care in their community.
Among families not using child care, 4 in 10 low-income parents chose to stay home with their children, and cost was a more common barrier.
Despite these differences, children from both income groups were equally likely to rely on licensed child care (about 78%) as their main arrangement.

What are your thoughts about using AI (artificial intelligence) in career counselling, recruiting and general HR (human resources) services?
And what Iāve learned about AI so far really worries me. For one thing, itās terrible for the environment and harms resource-scarce communities. For another, thereās growing research about AIās negative impact on employees, showing that it can increase depression and burnout.

When newcomers first arrive in Canada, the atmosphere is often filled with hope. Smiles at the airport,
āWelcome to Canada!ā signs and government campaigns about how
diversity is our strength create an image of a country ready to embrace their skills, cultures and contributions. They are told their stories matter, that opportunities are abundant and that they will be valued members of their new home.
But fast forward a few months, sometimes even weeks, and many are left asking the same question: Where did that welcome go?
