Hamilton Manufacturing Network |
|
|
 |
At Workforce Planning Hamilton, we are committed to supporting our local workforce through times of transition, disruption, and opportunity.
As global trade, automation, and supply chain structures shift, Hamilton’s manufacturing sector stands at a critical intersection of local resilience and global change.
Manufacturing has long been a cornerstone of our city’s identity and economy. Yet, we cannot ignore the mounting challenges facing the sector. According to our 2024–2025 Local Labour Market Plan, Hamilton saw a 14% decline in manufacturing employment in 2024—mirroring broader trends across Canada and beyond. In nearby factories, recent layoffs have deepened anxieties tied to international tariffs and economic uncertainty.
These disruptions aren’t just statistics—they affect real people, families, and communities navigating complex transitions. We approach this moment with empathy and a responsibility to act.
In response, Workforce Planning Hamilton is launching the Hamilton Manufacturing Network—an initiative designed to bring together employers, workers, and community partners to collaboratively assess challenges, share insights, and co-create solutions for a more sustainable and inclusive manufacturing future.
Launching in late May to early June, the Network will offer a space for open dialogue, workforce planning, and sector-wide collaboration.
Join our mailing list to be among the first to hear about events, engagement opportunities, and resources designed to strengthen Hamilton’s manufacturing ecosystem.
Hamilton’s strength lies in its people, its innovation, and its unwavering ability to adapt while staying rooted in what makes our city thrive. We invite everyone connected to or invested in the future of local manufacturing to join us in shaping the next chapter.

Hamilton-based ArcelorMittal Dofasco (AMD) is starting a multi-phase plan to achieve net-zero emissions in its steelmaking.
