Homework Health

CDL are happy to be offering a new program called Homework Health.

This program is for neurodiverse teenagers in grade 9-12 but all are welcome to join.

Teens can drop in at any time and leave at any time. When they come, they can grab a snack, and work on homework with the support of our educators. They can also get free mental health support and tools from our Youth Mental Health Workers. They can also just use it as a safe space.

We are offering it on Tuesdays and Fridays, 3-5 at 6 Acorn St (Near Sanford and King St). We are offering it in Halton at White Oaks Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Glen Abbey on Wednesdays at various times.

Jim Huff advises Hamiltonians on how to find new kinds of work and has seen more visitors coming back in recent years as jobs grow scarce.

At the United Steelworkers Adjustment Centre, Mr. Huff has been a coach of sorts through job loss and turmoil. He started co-ordinating the centre’s free services some 25 years ago, after a massive wave of layoffs at local employers, including his own workplace – a manufacturer of plastic containers.
The City of Hamilton is giving away free trees and shrubs to residents to plant on their private properties.

This annual initiative allows locals to claim free trees and shrubs in species native to the area in an effort to improve air quality, combat climate change, and increase property value.

Hamilton residents who would like a tree must pre-register for their pickup by visiting hamilton.ca/treegiveaway
