Workforce Planning Hamilton (WPH) has just released its annual LLMP, providing valuable insights into the state of Hamilton's labour market.
 
This report dives into local data, highlights key trends, and identifies gaps within our industries.

In January 2025, Hamilton’s unemployment rate increased by 0.2% to 7.5% - slightly below the provincial rate (7.6%) and well above the national rate of 6.7%. From a four month span, Hamilton’s unemployment has crept up by around 0.2%, month-over-month.

Shift Change Supervisor Training Program

This â€śGender Inclusive Leadership Training Course” is designed and delivered for male supervisors working in skilled trades. It includes once-per-week training for 6 weeks.

Male leaders need opportunities to learn about the challenges and opportunities that exist in building and supporting diverse teams.

Through this unique program, we’re seeing big change happen in small business. Participant organizations are seeing leaders emerge and teams get stronger. Supervisors are seeing team culture shift to be more positive and inclusive.

Indigenous Traditions

Indigenous Storytelling: Winter Story Nights â€“ Thursday, March 6th 6-7pm – Terryberry Branch, 100 Mohawk Rd W

Gather around the fire and listen to Indigenous stories traditionally told during long winter nights. Listen to Indigenous stories, including some about certain animals, that are only told during winter so as not to embarrass the hibernating animals. Gather around a flickering 'fire' and get cozy.

Indigenous History of Bannock on Turtle Island â€“ Tuesday, April 22nd 5:30-6:30pm – Concession Branch, 565 Concession St

Long before European ships landed on Turtle Island, the original people made flour from seeds, nuts and the roots of certain plants. Cree and Anishinaabe people made Bannock (a Gaelic word meaning "fried morsel") and added it to their soups and stews, to make a dense, easy-to-transport bread that survived canoe trips and long hunting expeditions. Learn about the history of bannock, a traditional bread that originated with Indigenous Peoples in Canada. Sample freshly made bannock and pannock.
