Hamilton's new living wage numbers have been released at $21.30 per hour.
This is a 2.4% increase from 2023 when the living wage was $20.80.
A living wage is the hourly wage a worker needs to earn to cover their basic expenses and participate in their community.

Workforce Planning Hamilton is pleased to be a Student Talent Connect partner, in collaboration with the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.
Student Talent Connect is a free initiative designed to provide local employers access to capacity building resources through work-integrated learning (WIL).
We invite you to join us on December 5th at 4:30 pm at Redeemer University, for another Networking and Learning Night! We aim to connect employers like you with Hamilton’s leading post secondary partners and talented students.
Come ready to meet local student talent, learn about work-integrated learning (WIL) and access resources to bridge gaps in your workforce. If you’re preparing to hire a student this winter term (January-April) this event is an amazing opportunity to jumpstart your WIL journey.,

Employer Feedback Forum Series 2024 |
|
|
This report summarizes baseline insights, forum discussion, and post-session feedback from the Employer Feedback Forums hosted by Workforce Collective, in partnership with Hamilton Immigration Partnership Council and Workforce Planning Hamilton in Hamilton, Ontario on October 5, 2024. Over the two sessions, 37 leaders and representatives from private, public and nonprofit sectors participated to engage around the topic of immigrant employment in Hamilton.

The Mastering Mathematics Program is now open for winter registration.
The Mastering Mathematics Program is a free tutoring program designed to assist newcomer children in grades 2-10 who are dealing with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or other mental health issues impacting their learning. To attend the program, you are not required to have an official diagnosis from a clinician - we accept all children with learning difficulties including suspected or diagnosed both.
This program will specifically focus on teaching mathematics, covering essential areas such as number sense and numeration, patterning and algebra, and mathematical applications. The sessions are scheduled to run from January 13th, 2025 - March 7th, 2025.
Here are the program details:
- Location: Kiwanis House (6 Acorn St, Hamilton)
- Dates: Monday & Thursday
- Time: 5:30pm-6:45pm

Gender-Based Violence Support Services |
|
|
|
The YWCA Hamilton and Interval House of Hamilton are offering a series of public presentations at HPL branches in November/December. In these sessions, attendees will learn about strategies to help identify and prevent behaviours that contribute to gender-based violence. These sessions are completely free to attend!

Prevent Gender-Based Violence
Learn how you can address and prevent gender-based violence from happening in your community with support from MentorAction, a program of Interval House of Hamilton. MentorAction engages youth and men who are committed to eradicating gender-based violence through education, mentorship and community participation by challenging existing norms that sustain or perpetuate gender-based violence.

Community Services Workplace Preparation |
|
|
Mohawk College is currently taking registrations for the free Community Services Workplace Preparation Program - January 2025 intake funded by IRRC.
The program is for participants who are interested in the community services sector and would like to prepare to work in community services organizations. It’s delivered virtually, except for a few certification workshop and volunteer placements.
Here is the eligibility:
- Permanent residents, protected persons (with Notice of Decision), temporary residents affected by the crisis in Gaza, and Ukrainian temporary residents or their dependents.
- CLB 7 or higher (Canadian Language benchmark/CLB is a free language assessment done by YMCA)
- You are not currently enrolled in a college or university program
- Previous post-secondary education and work experience is recommended
