Our team at Workforce Planning Hamilton is inviting all Hamilton businesses, community organizations, and service providers from all sectors and sizes to join the conversation regarding your challenges, concerns, and priorities for Hamilton's workforce and labour market.
Join our annual Local Labour Market Consultation to provide your input on the local labour market and shape our future work at WPH through your contributions. The themes that emerge from our conversations and the priority areas that arise through the consultations will be the focus of the project work that WPH takes on to support the community's highest-priority needs.

Green Venture Youth Program |
|
|
|
Welcome to the Youth Stewardship & Professional Skills Program by Green Venture!
This program is open to youth in the Hamilton Region looking to get involved with issues relating to climate change and environmental stewardship.
Over the course of the program you will learn some fundamental skills through the construction of an environmental stewardship project of your choice, and have the opportunity to make your project a reality.
This is a great program to build up your resume, connect with like-minded peers interested in environmentalism, and make a difference in your community!
In joining this program, you can:
• earn a minimum of 20 community service / volunteer hours
• gain valuable professional skills and experience
• receive letters of recommendation as needed
• complete a stewardship project that benefits the environment
• meet other high school students who value sustainable living
• earn a certificate to add to your resume
• have fun in nature this summer!

Spotlight: September 2024, looking at unemployment rates by immigrant-status in Ontario, newcomers had the overall highest unemployment rate of 11.8%. In comparison to the total Immigrant populace (newcomers and those that have landed 10+years ago), which had an unemployment rate of 8%. Interestingly, Immigrants who have landed more than 10 years ago had a lower unemployment rate than their Canadian-born counterparts, of 6.4% compared to 6.7%.
Next, looking to Hamilton’s unemployed population. Both female (-1K, -0.4%) and male (-2.2K, -0.7%) groups saw their unemployed population decline in September. By age groups, Hamilton’s unemployed youth (18.3%) declined by 1,400 youths; core-working age individuals (25-54) (5.1%) by 1,700 persons; and older workers (55-64) (3.9%) by 300 workers.

Ontario raises the minimum wage to $17.20
The previous minimum wage was $16.55 per hour.
With the new increase to $17.20 per hour, minimum wage is now comparable to what Hamilton's living wage rate was in 2020.
